What the documents mean for you
Bitrefill can freeze your account and balances while it investigates, seize store credit it links to crime, and demand KYC at any time. It may cancel a paid order at its discretion, keeps compliance data at least 5 years, and reports suspicious transactions.
Bitrefill lets you buy gift cards and top-ups with no account and no identity documents, but it says your use is continuously monitored and that you may be required to complete a KYC program at any time to keep using the service. Going over purchase limits, suspected resale or suspicious activity lets Bitrefill freeze the account and any store credit until you verify, and full verification (ID, proof of address, live selfie via SumSub) is only mandatory for certain products such as the Bitrefill Card and the US Visa Card.
Checks are set off by continuous monitoring of gift card and top-up purchases, by exceeding the purchase or store-credit limits, by suspected resale or multiple accounts, and by exceptional or over-limit refunds. Verification (level 3) runs through SumSub, an identity-check provider, and asks for a government photo ID, proof of address and a live selfie; corporate verification asks for incorporation documents and beneficial owner details. If you refuse, Bitrefill freezes your account and any remaining credit until you verify, and it can freeze balances while it investigates suspicious behaviour.

Bitrefill can freeze your balances and account while it investigates, and may keep the investigation secret from you. Store credit it finds was paid with proceeds of crime can be taken and handed to the authorities.
If your balance goes over the limit, Bitrefill only refunds the excess after you verify your identity. If you refuse, it can freeze the account and the remaining credit until you do.
From 1 January 2026, Lightspark Payments Europe must send identity, transaction and wallet data linked to Bitrefill Card activity to the Estonian Tax Authority under the EU DAC8 rules.
Without an account you can spend up to 500 USD per day and 1,000 USD per month, with 15 items a day. Using several accounts to get around the limits can get your accounts suspended until you complete due diligence.
